Job Summary The Sewing Machine Operator uses their technical knowledge and practical skills to operate and maintain sewing machines in a demanding and fast paced environment. The individual must be able to read and understand pattern patterns for use in sewing insulations blankets for oil and gas field operations. Primary Job Duties Safely operate and maintain industrial sewing machines in a demanding, fast paced environment Read and interpret patterns Follow designs and patterns with precision, ensuring high-quality results Must meet production goals with speed and accuracy Must be able to align materials in the machine and utilize foot pedals to operate the machine Must be able to adjust and maintain machines for each use Inspect completed products for accuracy and quality Maintain a clean and safe work environment Monitor machine operation to detect problems and have the ability to fix minor machine malfunction Perform routine machine maintenance Required Competencies / Prerequisites High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of one year of commercial sewing experience Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language Ability to lift heavy fabric roles Ability to accurately utilize basic computer applications Physical Requirements Light to moderate physical effort required Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds. Required to walk, reach, and move about the shop Ability to sit for extended periods of time Work with industrial equipment Wear safety equipment PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required and must be worn when in the shop Safety glasses Hearing protection Puncture resistant gloves Long sleeved pants and shirts Footwear covering the entire foot Note This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
